Q.
Why use the iBoss vs. software Parental controls?
A. There are many drawbacks to software filtering. The iBoss™ Home is unique in that it is a physical hardware device. This means that it is much harder to bypass. With traditional filtering software, savvy kids can bypass the software in many ways such as logging in as a different user on the computer, running a different operating system from a disk drive, or simply uninstalling it from the computer itself. Also, in order to change most software policies, typically you must do so from the computer that the software is installed on (rather than having central management). Also, software can conflict with other applications installed on your computer. Finally, software solutions require software to be installed on each computer that is to be filtered on the home network.
The iBoss™ Home is hardware. It uses the same technology used by Fortune 500 companies. Once in place, the iBoss™ Home controls the entire network centrally from one point. You can change the settings from any computer on the network. The iBoss™ Home cannot be hacked around. If it is disconnected, powered down, or failed login attempts are made, the iBoss™ Home will store log events into permanent memory that cannot be erased. In addition, an email will be sent to the administrator immediately advising the time, date and tampering violation that was attempted. iBoss™ Home will also filter all the wireless in your home which software cannot do without being installed directly onto the computer. If someone comes to your home with a wireless laptop for example, the filtering rules still apply since the iBoss™ Home regulates all traffic passing through your network.
The iBoss™ Home is operating system independent meaning that it will filter a home with a Mac computer, Windows computer, and even Linux all at the same time on the same network. This saves money as most filtering software, if available, would require a separate purchase for each operating system it is to be used with. |
